Since it opened in September, CATCH LA, has received an astounding amount of press and celebrity presence! The rooftop bar is the hottest new restaurant destination in West Hollywood, attracting young and old stars alike. The Kardashians came out to visit on week one. Nas reeled in a platter of CATCH sushi. Sofia Richie came to CATCH to celebrate the Emmys. Jamie Foxx spit Biggie lyrics in the CATCH video booth. The list goes on.
The attention is earned, and Eater LA named CATCH “the coolest damn rooftop bar in West Hollywood.” The secret is in the restaurant design. Part eatery, part botanical garden, the restaurant is gorgeous by day or night. Guests are led from the front door through a corridor lined with bougainvillea hanging from a wrought-iron balustrade. The bar is set with Brazilian quartz under rafters open to the night sky, and through wide open windows is the restaurant terrace, where the city skyline, the night sky, the Hollywood Hills take the spotlight.
The project’s architect, Chris Kofitsas of New World Design Builders, wanted to bring materials that were unusual to a roof design and laid down beautiful black-and-white Italian tiles on the terrace to accomplish that objective. Set against the beautiful tiling, he incorporated his trademark balance of live botanicals, like the pepper tree centerpiece in the dining room, and complimentary warm woods.
Kofitsas is drawn to the creativity of restaurant venues, and inspired by the people who spend their time there. “I love creating spaces that allow people to make memories, have a good time, feel good and be inspired,” he said in Construction-Today. With CATCH, he’s clearly succeeded. Find your own inspiration by exploring our other projects at New World Design Builders.
